History of Department of Co-operative Studies
The Department of Co-operative Studies is one of the five major departments that offering degrees in University of Co-operative and Management, Sagaing. Educational programs of Department of Co-operative Studies have been developed to cultivate leading academics and youth social entrepreneurs needed by social sector. The educational fields that the department provides cover of the social-economic fields including (a) Social Entrepreneurship (b) Social Enterprise Management (c) Social Science Human Resource Management (d) Strategic Management (e) Economic Development (f) Research Methodology. Now, Department has produced the students who B.BSc(SEM) degree holder (211) , PGDSEM degree holder (57), Master degree holder (34). In addition, Department draws to open HRD program which Diploma in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (Dip.ESBD) will be opened in 2021.

- To enable aspiring social entrepreneurs to face challenging situations with strategic thinking and practical application of skills.
- To nurture social-minded person who can make the social work practice sustainable and effective by utilizing social entrepreneurship.
- To train and produce well qualified persons who can fulfill the needs of socio-economic environment.
Objectives
- The educational objective of the department is to nurture scholars who possess a fundamental research capability and social entrepreneurs who have expertise sufficient to independently engage in social business activities.
