History of Department of Economic Geography
In 1996, the Co-operative Training School, Sagaing was upgraded and opened to the Co-operative College, Sagaing and in 2012, the Co-operative College, Sagaing was upgraded to Co-operative University, Sagaing. It was established as a Department of Economic Geography and started teaching economic geography subject. On November 5th, 2021, the name of Co-operative University, Sagaing was changed as Co-operative and Management University, Sagaing without any change in its original strength.

- To enhance the ability to think critically and effectively for socio-economic development through economic geography
Mission
- To exploration of various physical and socio-economic environments in economic geography, to support the establishment of a green and prosperous global society.
Objectives
- To convey concisely and clearly the nature of the field of geography, its intellectual challenges, and the logical interconnections of its parts.
